CREATING A POSITIVE WORK ATMOSPHERE: RESPECT AND UNDERSTANDING IN THE WORKPLACE |

OVERVIEW |

This workshop addresses the need to create respect and understanding in the workplace. When derogatory remarks decrease, job effectiveness increases in a positive work atmosphere.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES |
|
|
Participants who complete this workshop will:
· Respect individuals. · Understand and learn the importance of appropriate communication. · Deal with conflict and communicate effectively so others want to listen. · Accept others and their opinions to combine their skills for the most effective work environment. |

COURSE OUTLINE |
|
|
1. Introduction · "Today, Tomorrow, Trends." Acceptable language, attitudes and behaviours in today's workplace. · "How Open Are You to Widening Your Perspective?" This exercise uses feedback and self-reflection techniques.
2. Principles · "The Group." Participants explore the differences amongst individuals and are asked how they can modify their behaviour to make a diverse workforce an asset. · "Perceptions." Making judgments when only selective data is employed. · "Understand the Role of Stereotyping in Discrimination." Because this video shows real people expressing themselves honestly and passionately, it inspires the participant to do the same. Participant look at the differences in the organization, the challenges related to those differences and their own feelings and behaviours. · "Porter Model." Conflicts, barriers and resolutions are explored. · "Managing for Inclusion." Managerial groups explore their own biases when forming or managing a team. (Optional) · "Understanding Breeds Acceptance." Participants explore the concept of empathy. Recognizing and managing barriers to empathy enables us to identify with others and be open to different points of view. · "Self-Management." Participants identify their triggers and develop self-control by understanding behaviour patterns. Experience success by managing your mind, your words, and your unspoken language. · "Do Unto Others..." Maintaining the self-esteem of others and influencing Win/Win outcomes. · "Viva La Différence!” When you accept others, you combine your skills with theirs for the most effective team environment.
3. Closure · “Personal Action Plan.” Committing to new behaviours going forward.
