COURSE OUTLINE

1.       Introduction

·                     "Today, Tomorrow, Trends."  Motivation, Personal Leadership, and Interpersonal Communications.

·                     "How Open Are You to Widening Your Perspective?"  This exercise uses feedback and self-reflection techniques.

2.       Principles

·                     "Blended Organizations."  The meaning of diversity is identified and race, ethnicity, culture and character are defined.  The discussion will be refocused to character and abilities.

·                     "Understand the Role of Stereotyping in Discrimination."  Because this video shows real people expressing themselves honestly and passionately, it inspires the workshop participants to do the same.  Each participant will look at the differences in the organization, the challenges related to those differences, their own feelings and behaviours.

·                     "The Group."  Participants explore the differences between individual and group identity.  Participants are asked how they can modify their behaviour to make a diverse workforce an asset.

3.       Conflict Resolution

·                     "Porter Model."  The fuel to diversity based conflicts and barriers to resolutions are explored.

·                     "Perceptions."  Making judgments when only selective data is employed.

·                     "But I said…"  Communicating your needs to diverse individuals and what to do when communication breaks down.

·                     "Managing for Inclusion." Managerial groups explore their own biases when hiring or forming a team.

4.       Interaction

·                     "Understanding Breeds Acceptance."  Participants explore the concept of empathy.  Recognizing and managing barriers to empathy enables us to be open to new concepts and different points of view.

·                     "Getting to Know You."  Participants complete a beliefs and values checklist on themselves and their partner.  They discuss their perceptions.

·                     "Self-Management."  Participants identify their triggers and develop self-control by understanding behaviour patterns.  Interact with success by managing your mind, your words, and your unspoken language.

·                     "R.E.S.P.E.C.T."  A closer look at the importance of integrity and respect – giving and gaining.

·                     "Do Unto Others..."  Maintaining the self-esteem of others and influencing Win/Win outcomes.

·                     "Viva La Différence!” When you accept others and their opinions, you reduce stress and combine your skills with theirs for the most effective team environment and leadership.

·                     "Have You Really Heard it All?"  Interpret and stay open to information.  Make better and more informed decisions by hearing what others say and don’t say.
